Apple announced the release of a new version of the iOS system, iOS 18.1, which includes, among other things, the Autumn update of the Apple Intelligence artificial intelligence software system. This update comes with the renewal of the iPads and the Macs too. This change is major in assisting the company’s efforts to improve the users’ experience while also promoting the iPhone 16 series, which has just been introduced into the market.
In order to make use of Apple Intelligence, one needs to have an iPhone 15 Pro, or an iPhone 15 Pro Max or an iPhone 16 of any model. It is intended to run mainly on the device with minimum processing power communication with the servers. Such communication, in turn, could be for answering more complex queries that the device may not be able to handle. Those who wish to try out the new services will have to turn Apple Intelligence on in the Settings app and wait for their turn in line. Apple Intelligence is meant to give the company an edge over its rivals, most of whom have turned to artificial intelligence solutions based in the cloud. Some of the basic functionalities that are available include the writing aide which helps users with editing and rewriting, an image feature which allows users to cut certain parts out of the pictures taken, and a feature that eases summarizing multiple notifications. In notification summarization, any user does not have to go through a series of messages but instead receives, or can amplify a message that contains everything, within one, more organized communication.
Additionally, this version has brought some improvements for Siri as well, for example, the glowing edge of the screen when turns on the voice command with the new look. The voice assistant is also capable of answering questions about the Apple range and providing some troubleshooting help at the moment, but there is no option to use any third-party applications within the assistant for now—this is likely due to the forthcoming versions.
During the course of the survey, respondents expect that a significant proportion of active users will start upgrading to the new software due to its integration of AI within the system. In addition, Bank of America Securities under Wamsi Mohan claims how the gradual roll – out of Apple Intelligence can result in a higher demand for iPhones as consumers get used to the new functionalities.
This feature of Apple Intelligence, which has the potential to make Apple the most embedded daily AI application activity, has not come as a surprise.
The overhaul also improved the Mail and the Photos apps, particularly the use of intelligent photos searching aid in the Photos app and better email summarization tool.
