The state authorities have set aside a huge $408m for the development of the state-of-the-art electric charging facility over the next five years, as per the new plan of Texas Department of Transportation.
The state has made good progress in adoption of the EV adoption, ever since Tesla shifted its headquarters in Texas last year. Numerous towns are roping in Tesla model 3s as investment in the police car fleet. The Boring company has been invited for investments by several cities including Austin, to reduce emissions and easing the traffic congestions.
The state will be building a charging infrastructure along numerous interstate routes every 50 miles, according to the Texas Department of Transportation plan. Currently Texas has more than 1,29,000 electric vehicles with more getting added each year steadily.
The key aspects of the infrastructure will include energy storage and solar power facility to ease the pressure on the grid. The authorities are aiming to set up approximately 5,00,000 chargers by 2030 respectively.
