Volkswagen has roped in their new CEO Scott Keogh for its new spinoff company renaming it Scout. This rebirth of the electric vehicle, Scout the classic off-road SUV is expected to add a new lustre in Volkswagen fleet.
The former head of Volkswagen US initiated on starting the new electric truck line on confirming the complete restoration of vintage Scout. Their 2020 merger of commercial trucking company Traton with Navistar, saw Volkswagen acquiring Scout.
Focussing on its new goals of selling quarter million electric off-roaders in 2026, Volkswagen has planned to invest $1 billion in the new brand Scout.
Volkswagen Group CEO Herbert Diess told in an interview “It’s time now to concentrate more on the US market and the US customer, and one piece of the puzzle, for sure, is Scout.”
The company said it will develop “True American” electric SUVs and pickup trucks and help in increasing its current US market share of five percent in electric vehicles.
