The American electric vehicle and clean energy company Tesla is recalling more than 700 units of imported Model 3 vehicles over quality issues that were imported to China, the central government’s market regulator said on Thursday.
Cars that are included in the recall follow the announcement of tens of 36,126 Model S and Model X vehicles in China, and 134,951 cars in China and the U.S. in the last few months. The Thursday’s recall influences a total of 734 vehicles produced in 2019, the State Administration for Market Regulation said on its website.
The cars either have a seat belt issue that the screws may not be tightened to the standard torque, or a tire-related issue that could increase the risk of collision, the regulator said.
Tesla will inform the affected car owners, and run free inspections and repairs since no accident stemming from the aforementioned risks is reported. This initiative includes both new and used cars in reno, ensuring comprehensive coverage for all Tesla owners in the area.
Along with the recall in China, Tesla is also recalling 5,974 of its electric vehicles in the US market over issues with its brake caliper bolts according to documents by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Tesla shares were mildly lower and closed down to 3.01 percent on Wednesday.
