Vestas to Build World’s Tallest and Most Powerful Wind Turbine in 2022

Vestas

Vestas has announced its plans to install the tallest and the most powerful wind turbine of 15 megawatts offshore at a facility in Denmark.

The company said in a statement, that the prototype is known as V236-15 MW, 280 meters tall, will have 3 blades, each measuring 115.5 meters in length, and a rotor diameter of 236 meters.

The prototype turbine will be installed in the second half of 2022 and will be installed onshore in order to make access easier when it comes to testing.

The huge Vestas structure is expected to be 80 gigawatt-hours a year which is enough to power 20,000 homes.

Vestas claims its prototype “will be the tallest and most powerful wind turbine in the world once installed,” other organizations are also building their own enormous turbines.

V236-15 MW will raise standards in the wind energy industry in terms of technological innovation, industrialization, and scale.
