The modern world is encoded. Every organization either makes its own software or outsources all its requirements which needs much time and monetary investment. It would be easier to buy a base level of ready software and then customize it to specific needs. Regrettably, until now, there was no marketplace for companies to buy ready source code. They could only license products from companies and ask for customizations.
Enter PieceX, developed by One Act, is the world’s first source code marketplace powered by AI. Founded by Yusuke Asano, One Act is a global startup using AI technology to disrupt the field of software development. He owns business patents for “source code trading system” and “source code trading system using AI.”
The web service, PieceX, allows developers to earn from the source code itself. Companies are able to purchase these ready-to-use source codes saving time, manpower, and money. They are able to create highly customized programs according to their needs while owning the source code. PieceX already has a track record of transactions in more than 170 countries around the world.
One Act and its CEO, Yusuke Asano, have received awards such as Europe’s 4YFN 2022 Best Startup Selection, USA’s Top 50 Most Admired Companies to Watch 2022, and Middle East & Africa’s Supernova AI Innovator Finalist.
Yusuke Asano has also overseen the launch of two venture companies and has excellent management skills. He launched an industry-university collaboration ICT education project with the Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology and started a joint research project with the University of Ottawa, Canada.
In an exclusive interview with CIOLook, Yusuke Asano shares how PieceX is disrupting the world of software development.
Below are the highlights of the interview:
Brief our audience about your journey as a business leader until your current position at One Act. What challenges have you had to overcome to reach where you are today?
I started my career at Keyence, a company with the third largest capital in Japan after Toyota and Sony, and engaged in Sales and Management for eight years. After that, I oversaw the launch of two venture companies before establishing One Act in 2013. In 2021, I established One Act UK in London and One Act US in California. Now, I represent the three companies and am expanding my business to the world.
We conduct business throughout the globe, which would make it difficult for a small startup to gather talented people from all over the world. At One Act, we accomplished that by holding a lot of interviews with talents using a lot of job sites around the world.
Tell us something more about your company and its mission and vision.
One Act is a global startup engaged in software development and AI technology development with a Headquarter in Japan, and offices in France, India, UK, and the US.
Mission: We aim to contribute to global society through innovative technologies.
Vision: We strive to create a world where anyone, no matter who or where can create new innovative services.
Value Proposition: Our main solution is PieceX, an innovative service that is positioned to become a new social infrastructure for software development.
PieceX is the world’s first AI-Powered Source Code Marketplace. By trading software components globally, PieceX allows Sellers to earn new income from the source code itself and allows Buyers to save 80% on software development time and costs by purchasing ready-to-use source codes. PieceX creates a web infrastructure where anyone in the world can rapidly develop new services, creating a new economy.
Enlighten us on how you have impacted the Software Development & AI Technology sector through your expertise in the market.
We are revolutionizing the software development industry, creating a new process to simultaneously solve the long-standing pains of traditional software development: excessive costs, excessive time, and a shortage of IT engineers. By distributing ready-to-use source code in parts around the world, people will be able to launch new services with minimum manpower and cost.
AI is a major support in our market price control and quality control, and our AI development brings fair value to the market.
Describe in detail the values and the work culture that drives your organization.
Our organization is a group of professionals from 12 countries around the world. We are really multinational, and everyone has different cultures, but we respect each other. All of us are highly motivated and passionate about changing the world and contributing to the world through the services we create. And since it’s a startup, it’s very flexible. Whether it is an idea that denies the existing organization or an idea from a new employee who has just joined the company, we will immediately adopt an idea that will improve the current situation.
Undeniably, technology is playing a significant role in almost every sector. How are you leveraging technological advancements to make your solutions resourceful?
Technology will continue to be a major part of all areas and industries. Our service strongly supports the progression of technology, and so our evolution means their evolution. We are not only the side that utilizes technologies but the side that spreads and provides technologies to the world.
What, according to you, could be the next significant change in the Software Development & AI Technology sector? How is your company preparing to be a part of that change?
Automating Software Development with AI technology.
We are already working on that with an approach that uses source code componentization and combination. We will lead that change as well as companies experimenting with other approaches.
Where do you envision yourself to be in the long run, and what are your future goals for One Act?
The goal of One Act is to contribute to the world by creating an environment where anyone in the world can create innovative services with the world’s largest web infrastructure that has never existed before. In order to smoothly realize that, we also work on challenging automatic source code generation.
In other words, when people want to create something by combining parts and automatically generating code to connect them, they don’t have to do anything. Just type “I want to make XX.” If we can achieve this, a wonderful world of innovation will be born.
As for myself, I envision that I will continue leading the organization when that happens, but it may not be very visible. I don’t like the idea that the CEO’s face immediately pops into people’s minds when people think of a service.
What would be your advice to budding entrepreneurs who aspire to venture into your sector?
Speed is VERY important. As is often said, fail fast and improve fast. If you rapidly keep repeating this, you will find yourself in a different place. I believe that software development should not be an obstacle to that end, and that’s why I recommend that you first look for ready-to- use products that suit you on PieceX before digging into further development.
Even if they have excellent IT skills, why not use them for POC? We are open to all partnerships and will be happy to provide any help they may need.
